"Park sharks"

There is a large park a few miles from your house that you enjoy walking in. At the end of the park there is a highway and an overlook area where drivers will stop to take a break. A few months ago you noticed a large rusted barrel in the woods but did not think much of it. The other day, you were walking late in the afternoon and noticed two men rolling barrels down the hill from the highway and into a trench. They had shovels and were working very quickly. You left the area quickly because you did not feel comfortable. After further investigation, you discover that the men were burying barrels of hazardous waste that they did not want to pay to have disposed of properly.

  Environmental laws
  • What are the hazards of burying hazardous waste or disposing of it improperly?
  • Who would you call about what you saw in the park?
  • What laws may the men be in violation of?
